On Thursday January 24th at the Redhawk Center, Seattle University women’s basketball team rode a 27-0 game-opening run to a 90-54 win over Chicago State on the back of a 33 point shooting clinic from Australian freshman Courtney Murphy. Courtney broke the Seattle University record for the most points scored in a single game in the Colleges D1 history.

Coach Suzy Barcomb said “Murphy put on a show in the first half, scoring 23 points to ignite the Redhawk attack.” Murphy finished with 33 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, connecting on 5-9 three-pointers, 8-11 free throws plus added a career-high 8 rebounds in her 32 minutes on court. Courtney’s performance was truly outstanding in only her sixth game of her career here.

Murphy’s performance topped that of senior Alexis Montgomery (All-WAC First Team 2017) who scored 31 points against Idaho State on November 10th, 2017.

Dan Murphy (Courtney’s Father) our Queensland Representative for ANZBS, said “significant work went into finding the best scholarship opportunities for Courtney.” This included collating and editing quality game footage, compiling a comprehensive basketball profile, extensive communications with college coaching and academic staff, ensuring academic transcripts were compliant with NCAA guidelines, finding compatible playing styles, experienced and compatible coaching team and researching specific University requirements to support her career pathway.

ANZBS’s experienced and qualified scouts can help support you through the process of finding scholarship opportunities in US colleges utilising our proven process in conjunction with our extensive network of coaching staff in all divisions and competitions of basketball.
